Costa Rica
This Latin America country is considered one of the happiest countries in the world! Good weather, incredible surf with too many jungles and ecosystems to count; there is a reason everybody wants to visit Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is an extremely well established tourism destination. It is one of the most literate places in the world, secure enough to require no standing army; no wonder it has such a ‘Pura Vida’ vibe. If you speak English, you will find it comfortable here as it is also a major expat location. There is nowhere else in the world I have ever seen the Canadian Football League on TV except for in Costa Rica.
However, one of the effects of having so many expats and an established tourism trail means that Costa Rica is very expensive. Many backpackers rush through Costa Rica because of the high cost of travel. Alternatively, the number of expats also means that traveling in Costa Rica is quite safe and easy to do.
Both the Pacific and the Caribbean coast lines boast beautiful beaches and incredible surfing opportunities for both beginners and experts. Volcanoes stand tall throughout the country and the surrounding jungle is home to more eco-systems than anywhere else in the world. A positive of the expat community is that there are a number of adventure activities available to visitors. Things like ATV tours, zip lines and river tubing are a few ways to experience adventure travel with ease in Costa Rica.
‘Pura Vida’ is what the locals say. An ode to the relaxed vibe of the Ticos, and their appreciative take on life and their surroundings. Good food, yoga culture, the occasional hippie, along with surf, sun, and sand make Costa Rica a quality destination, not to mention, nor forget, the volcanoes, hot springs and many jungles. One must not to rush through this beautiful country. Stay a while and embrace the Pura Vida vibe.
